I’m often asked what’s the big deal with hymns, especially the older ones from hundreds of years ago. There’s not always a good answer ready on my the tip of my tongue, but this one really helps explain it. Good hymns help us know, understand God. A good hymn takes a scriptural concept and puts it in a form that easily brought back to mind. Listen to this hymn in light of Ephesians 3:19. I’m sure you’ll love it, and even though you have probably never heard it before, it will become one of your favorites.
Ephesians 3:17-19 “I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
